Volunteer Opportunities

Our services would not be possible without the generous support of our many volunteers. The lives of many seniors are enriched by the love and caring of our volunteers who help seniors maintain their dignity and independence. All of our services are provided almost exclusively by volunteers stepping forward from their communities to help a senior neighbor.

Drivers:

- As you may guess, FNWC’s free transportation service is the most in-demand service that we offer.

- Volunteers drive a senior to their doctor's appointment or help them run a personal errand, for example to the grocery store or beauty shop.

- All drivers establish their own criteria of time and geographical areas where they wish to drive. All seniors live in the neighborhoods of far northwest Austin, Cedar Park and Leander.

- Children are more than welcome to ride along.

Senior Day Out - 2nd & 4th Thursdays 10am-12pm Pond Springs Baptist Church

Volunteers are needed to drive seniors to and from this event, set up and prepare refreshments, greet seniors and help them feel welcome, join in on the games and help tear down and clean up after the event. Local Congregations also provide a free lunch and snacks for the seniors--so if your church group is interested, give us a call at the office: 250-5021.

Friendly Visitors & Telephone Call Reassurance

Many of our seniors enjoy a visit from time to time or love to chat on the phone. Help a homebound senior combat those feelings of isolation and loneliness by providing a friendly ear. This is a wonderful volunteer opportunity that can be done in the evenings or on weekends, although most seniors enjoy visits/calls during the weekday when working family members may not be available.

Office Assistance

Volunteers are needed to help answer phones and complete other miscellaneous office tasks.

Volunteer handyman/handywoman

Volunteers perform minor home repair and home maintenance tasks.
